An early survey and descriptions of the manuscripts in the Synodal Library now held in GIM. The code numbers cited by Savva are correlated to current ones in the more recent supplementary catalogues listed above. The third edition contains a reprint of the earlier separate 1858 description of the ecclesiastical holdings in the sacristy (riznitsa) as well as the descriptions of the manuscripts in the library as its two component parts, and is the last one that covers manuscripts in the Synodal Library. There are fourth (1863) and fifth (1883) editions of the description of holdings in the sacristy, but these do not include any manuscripts.

Describes 141 manuscript books from the Voskresenskii (Novoierusalimskii) Monastery, the majority of which are part of the Eparchial Collection in GIM and were earlier held in the Synodal Library. Also describes 690 manuscript books from the Joseph of Volokolamsk Monastery, before the collection was split; those that were transferred to the Moscow Eparchial Library are now in GIM (others are in RGB). There are also descriptions of 47 manuscript books from the Borovskii Pafnut'ev Monastery in Kaluga Oblast, some of which are to be found in GIM (although that collection was later dispersed).
